Checking in on Jack and Apollo
By Dean Bagley, UCF Marine Turtle Research Group

Jack continues to stay out in the Gulf. I wish I could tell you more about it, but there do not seem to be any structures mapped out there. All I could find was depth from a NMFS chart. I’m sending two maps: a closeup, and a closer look at his movements. On the closer map, his last location was immediately to the left of the date and time. The most recent hits cover an area that is roughly 10 kilometers by 2 kilometers, so he’s not just sitting around.
Apollo remains off Boca Chica Key. I zoomed in on the map this week so that you could see his movements. He definitely has a night spot, evidenced by the cluster of hits on the right side. And evidently some favorite foraging areas, roughly in the middle of his movements, and where his most recent location is (immediately to the right of the date and time).
Thanks again so much to you all for your interest, and for funding this work.
