NOW’S THE TIME TO JOIN THE TEAM
Teaching children about sea turtles and their role in the ocean. Keeping beaches clean by picking up trash and debris. Recording data about sea turtle nesting activity on a stretch of Brevard County beach. Responding to a call about an injured sea turtle and transporting it to a facility to get needed help. Sharing information about what we do at festivals and other community events. Organizing and participating in events to help fund these and other conservation efforts.
These are just a few of the many, many roles that volunteers play within the Sea Turtle Preservation Society. Did you know that these volunteers are the heart of our organization? As an all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization, the Sea Turtle Preservation Society relies on our volunteers to complete our mission of helping sea turtles survive. We’d love for you to join us in our conservation efforts.
On Feb. 22, 2020, STPS will be holding our annual Volunteer Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 109 next to the Turtle House at 111 S. Miramar Ave. in Indialantic, FL. This event will give anyone interested in becoming a member or a volunteer the opportunity to ask questions, meet other members and volunteers, and speak with representatives of our many programs and activities.
Over the next two weeks leading up to this event, our Loggerhead Lowdown blog will feature simple Question and Answer posts about our different programs and activities to help you find what interests you and where your skills are needed. Please check in throughout this time to learn more about volunteering, or even better, subscribe to our blog and these posts will be emailed to you directly.
If you can’t make it to the Volunteer Fair, that’s just fine, too. Becoming a volunteer with our organization is a simple process. Please visit our website, seaturtlespacecoast.org, and click on the volunteer tab at the top left of the page. This will open links to more information and an online application to volunteer along with a step-by-step explanation of what you’ll need to do. The first step, of course, is to fill out a volunteer application. For questions about how to become a volunteer or any of our volunteer programs, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@seaturtlespacecoast.org
