Sea Turtle Week starts June 8

World Sea Turtle Day on June 16 has always been a big day for the Sea Turtle Preservation Society, and this year is no exception.
STPS will kick off a nine-day virtual celebration beginning on World Oceans Day, June 8, that will include daily educational messages and activities as well as games, story times, live social media events and giveaways. The event will wrap up on World Sea Turtle Day, June 16, as STPS celebrates renowned sea turtle conservationist Archie Carr’s birthday.
This year, STPS also has the opportunity to be part of a larger celebration, Sea Turtle Week 2020. This event, started by Seeturtles.org in 2019, brings together about 100 sea turtle groups from around the world to share the message of sea turtle conservation. Daily themes throughout the event will focus on different sea turtle species as well as conservation issues. STPS will feature these themes in our social media posts as well as on our Loggerhead Lowdown blog. You’ll want to be sure to follow STPS on Facebook and Instagram as well as the blog on our website. #seaturtleweek
