VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: ANGEL COLLINS
By Megan Maynard
This month’s volunteer spotlight is Angel Collins.
Angel Collins has been a practicing RN since 2005 after a switch in careers from being a jet mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. Being an Air Force brat, she traveled frequently as a child but was born in Massachusetts and ultimately made the move to Florida.
While she and her cousin Lisa were researching sea turtles, they came across STPS turtle night walks, and after participating, Angel was hooked. Angel joined STPS officially in 2015 and writes blog articles for the website and the member newsletter. Prior to being sidelined by foot surgery, she was an avid Night Krawler for the turtle walk program and hopes to resume those duties soon. She enjoyed meeting the guests and sharing what the organization stands for and that there are so many ways each person can help.
Angel is a prime example of the flexibility STPS offers. She has done night walks, helped in the store, answered phones for walk sign-ups, written blog articles, and been on the decorating committee. Although she works night shift, she has found it very easy to find many volunteer activities that fit her schedule. There are so many ways to be an active member, and Angel recommends checking out the STPS website to learn more.
Thank you, Angel, for all you do.
